That driving passion led us here as inspiring artists. We wanted to create art and it is the creativity that got us to this point. Now we have this art created and we started the social media journey to promote it. After a while, it can be exhaustive promoting it week after week on social media. Is there a way to stay motivated by creating the posts and keeping your original art drive alive?

With technology getting more advanced, as artists we see more sales being made online. Social media playing a major role in showing your work. Technology is nice but now we tend to spend more time staring at our devices than spending time in the studio creating trying to keep up with posts for social media.

The purpose of using social media for the artist is to keep up with connecting with our audience. And using that link to get our art out there.

How much time is healthy on social media.

Often we see artists doing live videos. An excellent way to get your story out there as long it isn’t overdone like the chicken I made one night on the grill. That burnt bird left a bad taste in our mouths and we quickly tired of eating it.

How do you know if you are overdoing it? Watch your “likes, engagements” and see if they are dropping or climbing is a good indication. You don’t want to be that overcooked grilled chicken. You don’t want your fans to become tired of frequent posts that it becomes a point of monotonous.

The point is, you will need to find your sweet spot. The awesome amount of posts where you are gaining attention not losing it.

Think of it when you read your social media feed. What interests you and what says I’m tired of you and you scroll quickly past or even block the person. Be the interesting one in your daily feed with intriguing content that being the key.

Adjust your posting frequency up or down to find the magic zone of your social media account to keep your audience intrigued. Also experimenting with different post types such as using pictures, videos, or maybe text posts to see which type responds best with your audience.

Being a social media hero is the goal while limiting your use. And sticking to one or 2 social media accounts at most. For most visual artists, it is Instagram and Facebook.

And be mindful of adding third party fancy social media tools that are supposed to help you. These tools are expected to help automate the posting process. Some evil people are constantly trying to hack into these 3rd party accounts and gain access. Just like slobbering Colonel Zingers Barbecue Sauce to cover up the burnt taste on that bird these extra social media tools just don’t help that much for the risk.

Keep with the basics of social media.

The key takeout here is to produce meaningful high-quality posts instead of many low meaning posts on your social media account. So quality out-rules quantity following the virtue “Less is More”.

Spend that precious time to create that fantastic art to get their attention. By limiting your time on social media you will find yourself to be more motivated with the needed posts to promote your art.

Your time is precious, use it wisely.
